Events in November
November 17 – December 9, 2017 Friday & Saturday| 7:30 pm
Location: Paradise Theatre: 3114 Judson St, Gig Harbor, WA 98335
THE BEST CHRISTMAS PAGEANT EVER!:
It tells the story of Imogene, Claude, Ralph, Leroy, Ollie, and Gladys, six delinquent children named the Herdmans who were engaged in misfit behavior for their age such as smoking, drinking jug wine, and shoplifting. They go to church for the first time after being told that the church offers snacks. Despite protests from other church members, they are given roles in the Sunday school’s Christmas play, in which they tell the Christmas story in a nonconventional fashion.

Donkey Creek Chum Festival
November 18, 2017 | 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Every year, the greater Gig Harbor community celebrates the return of salmon to our local waters. The Chum Festival serves to remind us that the quality of our water, and the habitat it supports, connects us all. Join us as we recognize new ways to improve and protect our waterways. Our goal is to bring people together to promote sustainability, sound environmental stewardship, preservation of our maritime history and culture, responsible recreation, habitat preservation, and shoreline restoration — one salmon at a time.
Kayak, Canoe, and Paddle Board Races, Booths, Chum Burgers, Refreshments, “Paint Your Own Salmon” t-shirts, a “Salmon Maze”, touch tanks, and storytelling are just some of the activities that will be a part of the event again. Kayak, walk, bike or drive to the Park to enjoy the fun.
November 23rd 2017 | 6:30 am
Come run before the festivities begin and burn a few pounds….The trot begins at 8:00 am facing east on the main road in front of the Gig Harbor post office (3118 Judson St), where you can drop off your cans of food and prepare for the race. Day-of Registration starts at 6:30 AM. You will also be able to pay and pick up t-shirts and bib numbers the day of the race (although we encourage everyone to pay ahead of time, to make for a quick and less-chaotic process).
The Start of both routes is in front of the Gig Harbor post office on Judson St. There will be volunteers along the way to guide you. For the latter half of the 10k, follow the orange arrows on the map. For the 5k, you will turn around approximately at the point on the map that says “5k turn-around”. The end of both routes is at the starting line, in front of the post office.
This year, proceeds are going to FISH food bank, a local organization called Food Backpacks 4 Kids, the Bischoff food bank, and local high school scholarships.
